Sometimes when SUVs are redesigned they’re duds. But the brand-new Chevy Equinox is a total stud. It has a new style, updated tech, and an improved performance to give top dogs like the Toyota RAV4 a serious run for their money. 

2025 Chevy Equinox Review: Completely Redesigned and Enhanced 

I usually kick off these reviews with something random. This time it’s about how easy the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox was to operate in holiday traffic. Its speed, agility, and size made it super convenient to fight for parking in crowded lots and finish my holiday to-do list. 

The Equinox was just totally redesigned to launch the fourth-generation. It gained a sleek style, updated tech, a sportier performance, and the Activ rugged trim. 

Here are some possible disadvantages of the 2025 Chevy Equinox: 

  • There’s no hybrid engine 
  • It’s not the fastest SUV in the bunch 
  • It has less cargo space than rivals 

What is the driving experience like in the 2025 Equinox?

The 2025 Chevy Equinox has a standard turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 175 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. Adding AWD increases the torque to 203 lb-ft. 

While it accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.6 seconds, it still has plenty of pep for merging into traffic and passing others. However, the Mazda CX-50 and Kia Sportage feel more athletic. 

The eight-speed automatic transmission is pretty smooth but may occasionally stumble during upshifts and the steering is a bit vague. But the brakes are quick and confident for smooth stops. 

There is little to no body roll around corners, and the Equinox feels stable. It’s well-planted in light off-roading situations. 

The turning radius is between 18.7 to 20.8 feet, meaning this nimble SUV is extremely easy to navigate through tight areas. 

What is the comfort level like in the 2025 Chevy Equinox? 

The 2025 Chevy Equinox provides plenty of comfort for daily commutes and longer trips. The font seats are large and well-padded for relaxing support. Taller adults can easily find the perfect driving position. 

In the back, the seating is slightly less cushioned. However, legroom has increased by 2.5 inches compared to the previous model. At 5’1”, I found ample space to relax. Additionally, the rear seats can recline for extra comfort.

Overall, the suspension quickly dampened rough impacts for a smooth, well-controlled ride. The interior is fairly quiet, but wind and road noise creeps in at highway speeds. 

I appreciated the automatic climate control feature during chilly mornings. The heated seats and steering wheel warm up quickly and efficiently. Plus, this SUV ensures you stay comfortable and cool on sweltering afternoons. 

Is the interior of the Equinox appealing? 

Yes, the 2025 Chevy Equinox has an upscale interior with faux leather covered services and premium microfiber upholstery. Large sections of black materials are broken up by red accent stitching, silver-painted accents, textures, and patterns. 

The design is thoughtfully arranged, making it simple to access all your essentials. I really appreciate the large panoramic sunroof that offers stunning vistas of the outdoors. 

Viability out of the front and rear is pretty good. Most SUVs have chunky pillars that block your view while turning. 

Is the technology in the 2025 Equinox considered to be advanced? 

The 2025 Chevy Equinox took consumer feedback to heart. Featuring an impressive 11.3-inch touchscreen, it also retains traditional physical controls for ease of use. The knobs are generously sized and clearly marked for convenience. 

The digital gauge cluster is easy to customize and provides useful information and the surround view camera system has a good resolution. 

This time, the wireless charging pad actually kept my phone cool and functioned flawlessly. The infotainment system, which runs on Google, allows for a smooth connection to Wireless Apple CarPlay. 

Enhanced features consist of a digital rearview mirror, parking aid, a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot, and a hands-free power liftgate. 

What is the cargo capacity of the 2025 Equinox?

The 2025 Chevy Equinox provides 29.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat and over 63.5 cubes overall. The available roof rails provide extra room for cargo on top. 

Although the Equinox offers less cargo capacity compared to its competitors, it provides ample room for smaller belongings. You'll find a compartment located on the cargo floor in the trunk, as well as a convenient pass-through storage space in front of the center console. While the glove box may feel a bit cramped, the center console offers a spacious area for your items. 

When properly equipped, the Equinox can tow up to 1,500 lbs. The Kia Sportage can tow up to 2,500 lbs and the Toyota RAV4 can tow up to 3,500 lbs. 

Overall, while the 2025 Equinox isn’t the fastest or most athletic option, it’s well-rounded. This SUV is comfortable, spacious, attractive, easy, and modern.

I recently experienced an AI concept vehicle at CES 2025 that tracks all aspects of your being, even your emotions, and it honestly unsettled me.

The LG Vision AI Mobility Concept here at CES 2025 uses a combination of sensors, cameras and AI to not only keep tabs on your health and stress, it gives you a driving report, complete with a score. With the ability to select my route through eye tracking, I opted for the scenic path featuring beautiful mountains and the ocean in the distance. Once I began to drive, I realized that the steering wheel was monitoring my heart rate as well. Additionally, the LG Vision AI Mobility Concept monitors your stress levels in real-time (which can be quite stressful, right?), and it analyzes your posture, indicating whether you're distracted by creating a 3D skeleton model. It might come off as a bit unsettling, but it certainly has the ability to recognize if your attention is elsewhere. What about your mood? I saw a small face in the center of the screen with the word Neutral written underneath it. I was curious about how to improve it, and I learned that if I smiled, it would change to happy. Hollister approves the return of the biker rally.

The Hollister Independence Rally is scheduled to make its comeback during the Fourth of July weekend, marking its first appearance in town since 2017. At the meeting on January 7, the city council reached a unanimous decision to approve and sanction the motorcycle rally scheduled for 2025 in downtown Hollister. City Manager David Mirrione is in talks with the promoter, Roadshows, Inc., to finalize a contract for organizing the event.  Mayor Roxanne Stephens expressed her enthusiasm following the council's decision, stating, “We’re thrilled to be moving closer to reviving our beloved Independence Rally tradition. Hollister is recognized globally for this event, and it’s clear that the majority of our residents are in favor of it. We’re optimistic about making this a reality for the community.” City officials estimate that hosting this year's Independence Rally will cost the municipality as much as $300,000. This expenditure is anticipated to deplete the city's budget, leaving insufficient funds to organize the traditional Fourth of July fireworks display.  Nevertheless, Stephens mentioned that the city is continuing to "look into alternative options to support the July 4 fireworks display" alongside the motorcycle rally.  City officials will keep the council informed in the upcoming months regarding contract discussions and various operational factors—such as safety—pertaining to the Independence Rally.  Since the city began officially sponsoring it in 1997, Hollister's annual Independence Day motorcycle rally in downtown has attracted significant numbers of bikers and onlookers during the summer holiday. The origins of the rally can be traced back over 70 years, beginning as a casual meet-up organized by the local biker community in Hollister.  Once a yearly tradition, the most recent official rally event occurred in 2017. Since then, a combination of financial issues and the Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted efforts to organize another rally.  In 2022, the residents of Hollister decisively supported Measure T, an advisory proposition that inquired whether they wished to see the Independence Rally return to the downtown area during the Fourth of July weekend. The measure received a strong endorsement, with 63% of voters in favor.  A large number of residents gathered at the council meeting on January 7 to voice their enthusiasm for the upcoming 2025 Independence Rally. Those from the community who addressed the council were unanimously in favor of the city endorsing the event.  Rally enthusiasts highlighted the event's clear economic benefits for local enterprises and emphasized the perks of maintaining a well-established tradition that attracts attendees from beyond Hollister.  Mike Corbin, the founder of Corbin Motorcycle Saddles located in Hollister, expressed his gratitude to the council for their consideration of hosting a rally in 2025.  Corbin remarked, "The previous motorcycle rallies in Hollister were all organized with a strong sense of cooperation."  Corbin and other analysts remarked that the city should not anticipate significant turnout for this year's rally, primarily due to the limited time available for organizing and advertising the event ahead of July 4.

"Always reliable": Mechanics share their top tire brand choice. Is it Goodyear, Falken, or Yokohama?

With the New Year upon us, it might be the perfect time to swap out your old tires. But which brand should you opt for when making the replacement? The social media manager of Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Evans Toyota (@evanstoyota) decided to ask the dealership’s mechanics what their preferred brand was. And they had opinions. The video, posted by Evan back in August of 2024, currently has over 70,700 views and counting. What did the technicians mention? “The interviewer in the video poses the question, ‘Which tire brand do you prefer the most?’” The first mechanic picks the American-made Goodyear. “I like their Duratracs,” he explains. The second mechanic selects the Japanese brand Falken. The next mechanic opts for Goodyear once more, while the subsequent one goes with another Japanese brand, Yokohama. The fifth Evans employee opts for a dark horse choice: B.F Goodrich. Originally an American tire company, it was sold in 1990 to French tire giant Michelin. "He shares that his grandfather spent five decades working at B.F. Goodrich." In the end, the final mechanic interviewed chose Goodyear, significantly surpassing Evans' top choice for the best tire brand. However, do the specialists concur with their selection? The top brands Consumer Reports had a differing opinion from the Evans team, as none of the brands listed were included in their recommendations. According to Consumer Reports’ YouTube channel, Michelin and Continental were recognized as the top tire brands for the year 2025. Michelin's Defender 2 has been recognized as the top tire for cars and mid-sized SUVs, whereas the Terrain Contact H/T from German manufacturer Continental was awarded the title of best all-season tire for trucks. Tire Easy.com also gave first place to Michelin. However, it put Goodyear in second place. "Goodyear has established itself as a top tire brand, renowned for its exceptional grip and remarkably responsive handling," it states. Unfortunately, Cartalk was not as impressed. Like Consumer Reports, its calculated ratings found that Michelin and Continental were the first and second best, respectively. Yokohama secured the fourth position, closely followed by Goodyear, which ranked fifth.
